Physical Education

All students have weekly PE Lessons at Solway Primary School. Enthusiasm, skill development and a life long love of movement, sport and physical activity are aspects that are encouraged and supported. Ball skills, dance, gymnastics, body co-ordination and general fitness are the major components of the Year P-2 program.

In addition to this, in Years 3 and 4, skill, games strategy and tactics for major and modified games such as Netball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, TeeBall and Cricket are taught. This is in conjunction with the fitness and athletic programs.

All students in Year 6 participate in the Inter School Sport Program, in the Glen Iris District competition, with students in Year 5 participating in 100 minutes of inter school sports training each week.

Years P-4 have swimming lessons each year, and all Year 3-6 students compete in House Swimming sports, with the opportunity to swim at the District, Region and State level competition.

Throughout the year, the students have the opportunity to participate in specialist clinics and incursions offered by various community clubs and sporting associations.
